Optimizing Cybersecurity and Infrastructure by Implementing an IT PMO

Background

With rapid inorganic growth through acquisitions, a national packaging company was starting to experience the effects of infrastructure limitations, rising cybersecurity risks, and a lack of cohesive IT strategy. To address these challenges, the executive team commissioned a cybersecurity and infrastructure analysis, which revealed critical gaps in security, governance, and scalability capabilities. From this assessment, the organization reached out to Stonehill to create a comprehensive roadmap and stand up an IT Project Management Office (PMO) to organize, oversee, coordinate, and govern the rollout of the roadmap.

Approach:

Stonehill reviewed the analysis findings and created a comprehensive IT roadmap that aligned with business growth goals, security frameworks, and compliance standards. The IT PMO became the central governance body to translate the IT roadmap into actionable projects. Its core responsibilities included:

  • Established project charters and prioritization.

  • Managed project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

  • Provided consistent project governance and communication with stakeholders through executive steering meetings.

  • Drove change management, employee communications, and adoption of new technologies.

Implementation Results:

With the PMO driving execution, Stonehill supported the transformation of the IT landscape by delivering roadmap initiatives on time and within budget, reduction in cyber incidents, and improved transparency with executive leadership and board members. The client was able to modernize their security posture, implement disaster recovery and incident response policies, standardized performance and collaboration tools, and upgraded the infrastructure to handle future mergers and acquisitions.
