Strategy Consulting Firm Tampa
Stonehill is a Tampa-headquartered strategy consulting firm built for middle market and PE-backed companies. We sit on the leadership team's side of the table through the decisions that determine whether the next chapter of the business creates value or quietly destroys it — acquisitions, carve-outs, operating model changes, value creation plans, and the integrations that follow.
We've been based in Tampa Bay since the firm was founded. Our headquarters is in Westshore. Our team works in the same coffee shops and conference rooms as our clients. And our work spans the industries that define the region's economy: financial services, logistics and distribution, healthcare, real estate, hospitality, and the manufacturing platforms moving along the I-4 corridor.
What we do
Stonehill is built around four interconnected practices that share one underlying belief: strategy is only valuable when it survives contact with operations.
Post-Merger Integration. Most acquisitions don't fail at the negotiating table. They fail in the 12 months after close. We embed senior practitioners with leadership teams to translate the deal thesis into measurable workstreams, capture synergies on schedule, and stand up the combined operating model.
Private Equity Value Creation. For sponsors and portfolio company CEOs, we move from value creation plan to execution: 100-day plans, pricing and commercial strategy, operational improvement, and the integrations and bolt-on absorptions that compound returns through the hold period.
Operating Model & Growth Strategy. When the business is performing but not scaling — or scaling but not profitably — we work with the executive team to clarify priorities, redesign the operating model, and rebuild the execution engine. This is the work that turns ambition into a quarterly drumbeat of progress.
Carve-Out & TSA Advisory. Separation transactions create some of the hardest integration math in the deal economy. We help sellers and buyers structure TSAs, plan the standalone operating model, and exit transitional dependencies on a timeline that protects deal value.
Why Tampa companies hire Stonehill
There are larger consulting platforms in Florida. There are cheaper alternatives. Stonehill exists for a specific kind of leader: the founder, CEO, CFO, or operating partner who wants senior judgment in the room — not a junior team running an enterprise playbook on a middle market budget.
What that means in practice:
Senior practitioners, embedded. The partners who sell the work deliver the work. No staffing pyramid, no consultant carousel. When your CEO needs a decision-ready point of view, the same person who wrote your proposal is in the meeting.
Design Thinking discipline. Our methodology gives the leadership team a shared language for the ambiguous parts of integration and transformation — culture, customers, decision rights, sequencing. It's how we move from instinct to decision without burning weeks on debate.
A Center of Excellence for AI, Automation & Analytics. Operating model work in 2026 that ignores AI leaves money on the table. Our CoE helps Tampa Bay clients identify and capture the automation opportunities sitting inside their integrations and transformations.
Operator economics. Our pricing is built for middle market and PE deal economics. We don't price like a global platform and we don't deliver like one.
Tampa Bay clients we've served
Stonehill's local client work includes engagements with Valley National Bank (financial services), PODS Enterprises (moving and storage), FIS (financial technology), Restaurant Magic, and The Melting Pot — alongside national and global brands like Red Bull, Yamaha, Starbucks Latin America, Equifax, and Stellantis. Our case studies and client roster are available on the Clients and Case Studies pages.
Local commitment
Stonehill's founder and CEO, Doug Tatum, serves on the board of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Corporation and on the Town of Belleair Infrastructure Committee. Our investment in Tampa Bay isn't a marketing position — it's an operating one. We give back through our 1% For The Community program, and our team is active across regional economic development, education, and small business initiatives.
Industries we serve in Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay's economy is unusually well-suited to the kind of work Stonehill does. The middle market and PE-backed footprint here is deep, and the industries we know best are the same ones that define the region:
Financial services and fintech — banking platforms, fintech infrastructure, wealth management, insurance
Logistics, distribution, and supply chain — Port Tampa Bay-anchored businesses, distribution platforms, third-party logistics
Healthcare and health services — provider organizations, health-services PE platforms, specialty practice roll-ups
Real estate and development — commercial real estate operators, infrastructure platforms, construction services
Hospitality and consumer brands — restaurants, franchise systems, consumer goods
Manufacturing and industrial services — I-4 corridor manufacturing, specialty industrial, building products
What working with Stonehill looks like
We start every engagement the same way: a focused, no-cost conversation about the decision you're trying to make. From there, we typically structure work in one of three shapes:
A short diagnostic (2–4 weeks) when leadership needs clarity before committing to a larger program — pre-LOI integration planning, value creation plan refresh, operating model assessment.
An embedded integration or transformation program (3–9 months) where Stonehill sits inside the leadership team as the IMO, transformation office, or value creation execution arm.
A targeted intervention (4–8 weeks) on a specific workstream — pricing strategy, organizational redesign, TSA exit planning, AI and automation opportunity assessment.
Every engagement is led by a senior partner, scoped to a fixed fee or fixed timeline, and built around decisions — not deliverables.
Common questions from Tampa Bay leaders
Do you only work with Tampa companies? No. Our headquarters is in Tampa and we have team presence in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, and New York. We serve clients across the U.S. and internationally. The Tampa Bay region is simply where we live, where the firm was founded, and where a meaningful share of our client work happens.
Are you a fit for a sub-$50M revenue company? Often, yes — especially if there's an acquisition, a PE platform investment, or a leadership transition in play. We're built for the middle market, which we define broadly as $20M–$1B in revenue. Below $20M, we'll tell you honestly whether the work is a fit.
Do you work with private equity sponsors directly? Yes. We support PE firms across diligence, value creation planning, portfolio company integration, and platform-level operating partner work. References available on request.
How do you price engagements? Fixed-fee for diagnostic and bounded engagements. Monthly for embedded programs. We don't bill hourly and we don't run open-ended retainers.
What's the fastest way to evaluate fit? A 30-minute conversation with a partner. No deck, no pitch — just a structured discussion of what you're trying to accomplish and whether we're the right firm to help.
